  • What is the best time to book a session?
Any session is best booked 4-6 weeks in advance to provide enough time for me to prepare for your session. However, cake smashes and newborn sessions are a bit different. Cake smashes are best booked at least 3 months in advance. Once again, this will allow me enough time to prepare what might be needed for your custom set that coordinates with your birthday theme. Newborn session are best booked in the second trimester of pregnancy. Newborn sessions are done between 7-15 days of birth, and often if you wait until the baby is here, I am not able to fit you in my schedule. All sessions require a deposit to secure your session date. No session is considered booked until the deposit had been made. Since babies come on their own schedule, the deposit holds your due date. Once the baby arrives, you contact me, and we set up the session between 7-15 days later.
  • Why do I have to book my newborn session so early, can I wait until the baby is a few months old?
We can definitely get images of your baby at 2-3 moths old. However, they are not going to be those cute, curled up sleeping images that you see in my newborn images. The baby is much to alert and will not easily fold into those positions once older. Since newborn stage is so fleeting, we want to capture it early, when they will look so tiny asleep in your arms. If you miss this stage, the next milestone I would recommend is the sitter session. This session is done when the baby can sit up completely unassisted around 6-8 months of age. This stage allows them to sit without the assistance of props to hold them up. They also have great facial expressions for the camera at this stage as well.
  • Do you travel for newborn sessions?
I do not travel to homes for newborn sessions. The sessions take place in my home studio in West Caldwell, New Jersey. I have such a wide variety of wraps, backdrops, props etc. for newborns that I could not possibly take it all with me. I want my clients to have everything possible that they may want to use doing a session right at their fingertips.
  • What types of payment methods do you take?
Payment can be cash, check, Venmo (Zelle coming soon), or credit card if needed. Payment plans are available upon request and there is a $50 service charge on any returned check.
  • Do you do events outside of your studio?
I do not shoot weddings or events held at Venus such as communions, Sweet 16’s etc. However, I do travel to dance studios for dance images, schools for fall/spring images or graduations, and I photographed schools daddy/daughter dances. These are not candids of everyone dancing. These are professional images shot with a backdrop to match the theme and professional lighting. It is the same for dance images. These are not action shots during the recital. They are done prior to the event with a backdrop and lighting.
  • What do I need to do prior to my session?
Once you contact me and we select a session date, that date needs to be held with a deposit. No session is considered booked until a deposit has been made. We will begin to discuss the details of your session at this time. You will receive an appointment confirmation, contract, and questionnaire to fill out prior to your session date.
  • What do I need to do after my session?
When the session is over, I will be in touch within the week to send you your proofing gallery. These are just proofs, straight from the camera, so no edits or adjustments have been made to them at this time. Once sent, you will have one week to select your favorites, which is based on the collection you chose. You mark your favorites by clicking on the star when the image comes up. This puts them into a favorites folder that I can see on my end. You will contact me once you are done selecting your images, and I will begin the editing process. Please allow 2 weeks before your final edited mages are delivered to you.
  • What do I do once my final edited images are sent to me?
After I completed the editing process, your final images will sent to you by a download link. You will need to download your final images and save them to your computer/flash drive. DO NOT save them to a phone or tablet. You MUST save the final images before the expiration date, which is on the opening page of the gallery. Once the gallery expires, you will not be able to access your images. There is a $25 fee to reload and reactivate the gallery a second time, so please save them safely as soon as possible. You will get automated email reminders as the expiration date gets near so you don’t forget.
  • What if I decide I want more digital images or prints then what I originally purchased?
The option to purchase more digital images is always an option after you see your gallery. I provide image bundles which will allow the purchase of images in bundles of 5. I also have the option to purchase images individually if you would like to purchase less than 5. If you would like prints, I offer ordering through the online gallery. This allows you to order prints from a professional printing lab. I pride myself on high quality images, and places like CVS, Target, and Walmart just don’t cut it. My lab is color calibrated which means what you see is what you get. The color and clarity of your images will be spot on. You can place your order online and the prints will be shipped directly to your house in most cases within a week or less. This is a great way to order gifts for family members, or even purchase additional for yourself. PRINT your images!!! They are your children’s memories and all they will have left one day!
  • How do I install the app and can my photos be saved on the app?
Along with your link to download your high resolution images, you will also get a link to an app that can be installed on your phone (works with both Android and Apple). Once you click on the link, you will be prompted through the set-up. It takes seconds to install and can be shared with as many people as you like for their phones as well. This app is like a digital photo album on your phone. It makes for easy viewing and sharing at any time and is of no additional cost to you. REMEMBER, this app is just for viewing and sharing, not the place for photo storage. You absolutely need to download you images and save them properly on your computer or flash drive from the other download link that was sent.
  • Do you offer other products such as invitations, birth announcements, thank you cards, Christmas cards etc.? How about albums?
YES! Different types of cards are also offered through your online gallery. There is a wide variety of styles which can be customized to your liking. I also offer custom albums which I create and design for your images. They also come in a variety of sizes starting at 5x5, which is my best seller for grandparents. Parents often purchase these as gifts for grandparents. Grandparents love that it is small enough to carry around to show off. I have a sample in my studio so you can see the beautiful quality. These are NOT your typical paper page album that you get from places like Shutterfly. These are high quality crafted albums with thick pages that comes in a beautiful box for safe keeping. Albums start at $180 for the 5x5 and increase as the size goes up. The largest I offer is 12x12.
  • How long have you been doing photography?
I began my photography journey in 2011. It has grown slowly since I am still a teacher by day, however, I am so proud of what I have accomplished. This little hobby that turned into a thriving business is something that I never would have imagined. I continue my photography education each year with professional workshops, especially on newborn photography. I am always learning the latest techniques and most importantly, safety procedures to ensure my littlest clients (and their parents) have the most amazing experience. Continuous training in this area is a #1 priority for me. I want to make sure all of my clients feel secure in their decision to hand over their most precious gift to me during a session. It is not something I take lightly, and I am committed to capturing your families memories to the very best of my ability.
